This is an information war – and science is losing ground. A lie repeated often enough becomes truth, or at least becomes perceived as truth, and that’s what has happened with plastic materials. The public think that plastics are toxic, that they never degrade, that microplastics are a threat, that recycling is a scam, that alternatives decrease impact and other lies, almost too numerous to count.
With your help we can expose the misinformation leading us into a dark future. By sharing solid science, in a way that resonates with people, we can become a beacon for a better outcome – the outcome our children deserve. We need to protect them from this attack against their future. As an independent nonprofit research institute we are ideally placed to show peer-reviewed, unbiased science shared verbatim to avoid “spin”.
The Process
It has taken years to damage the reputation of plastic materials with misinformation and it will take years to undo that damage – this is not a sprint, but rather a marathon. That is why we need ongoing support and commitment from you. You can be part of something important and worthwhile. At the moment well-meaning people are paying extra for alternatives scientifically proven to increase waste, greenhouse gas, fossil fuel use and impact and all because they were misled.
With a proven team of highly capable scientists, we can make a real difference. Our members have already proven themselves and made an impact. Now it is time to build a bigger, louder megaphone to spread the facts online, in print, on radio, and television.
